Years ago at the Ohio Fire Chiefs Conference Gordon and I would do a slide show on Cleveland Fire Department fires and rescues. By the time we were through with the presentation the room would be packed with fire chiefs from across the state all enthralled in Gordon’s descriptions of fire scene history and tactics. His humor and side stories about the Cleveland Fire department were always a joy to hear. You would not find a more generous and kind person than Gordon. May the Lord bless you on your last call.
A gentleman, remarkable leader and absolute top shelf human being. I served under him at both Cleveland Fire and USCGR as an admiring subordinate and have only praise, "...not only for what he made of himself, but also for what he helped make of me.R. Tovar

Gordon, You've been a good friend and neighbor for almost 51 years. To not see you in your garden, picking up sticks and bags of fresh green beans hanging on our front door knob will be a hard adjustment for us. Rest in peace, my friend. you are once again with your Mother and Brother, who you so lovingly cared for throughout your life. Mom and I will continue to look after Dee. She has a good support system. When we visited you last Friday I told you i'd see you again, and I know i will, someday.

Our dear neighbor for over 50 years and fellow firefighter with our family members. We shared so many wonderful memories of all the good times. I will miss the blueberries and veggies from your garden. It was a joy to open my front door and see a bag of green beans on my doorknob. Almost every summer day I would see you sitting peacefully outside next to your garden enjoying your day. You where a special neighbor and friend to all of our family. You will be truly missed.
Thank you for your always kind words and for all the knowledge you passed on to me in my early career. Sitting and talking with you at the station is some of my greatest memories.Thank you for you service to our country and to the people in our communities. You will always be a blessing in my heart!
