Grace A Reckner's Obituary
SHALERSVILLE"Grace" (Lucretia) Ann Garro-Reckner, 89 years of age, passed away quietly Friday April 1, 2016 from Alzheimers Demenia at the Gardens of Western Reserve in Streetsboro where she has resided the past year. Grace was born January 9, 1927, in Ravenna, Ohio, the daughter of the late Italian immigrants Santo and Maria (Flaminio) Garro of Viesta, Italy.Grace had resided in Ravenna with her 7 siblings, and was a 1945 graduate of Ravenna High School, following which she worked at Oak Rubber, The Woolen Mill both located in Ravenna, as well as Twin Coach in Kent.On November 20, 1954, she married Wayne Reckner from Brownsville, Pennsylvania, their wedding taking place at Immaculate Conception Church in Ravenna. Wayne and Grace moved to their Shalersville home in 1957 with their two daughters, Debbi and Sandi. Grace worked outside the home as a secretary at Samuel Moore & Co in Mantua for many years, as well as being employed for many years at the Ravenna Auto Title Department from where she retired. Grace was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker, and loved living in Shalersville where she was involved in the Shalersville PTA, a member of St. Joseph's Church in Mantua, and being a friend and neighbor to all in the community. Grace also enjoyed the monthly BINGO luncheons at the Shalersville Town Hall; Young at Heart Club at Immaculate Conception Church, and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Italian American Society in Ravenna. She also loved spending time outside and knitting. Grace is survived by her daughters Debbi (Chris Seidel) Herr of Shalersville and Sandi Adamson of Dallas, GA; granddaughter Tracy (Todd) McDowell of Rockmart,GA; grandson George Herr of Shalersville; 3 great-grandchildren Avery McDowell and twins Ethan and Caleb McDowell all of Rockmart, GA. Sisters Alice Giorgio of Ravenna and Mary Rossodivitio of Burbank, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne in 1980; brothers Nunzio "Chutty",Pat, and twins Pasqual Garro and Laura Clark, and sister Carmella Mazzochi A special 'thank you' to University Hospital-Robinson Memorial Hospice Organization- Juanita, Rachel, Kendall and Scottie for their selfless acts of kindness and care. Also "Mo", Miranda, Carol, and many others who took care of Grace at The Gardens of Western Reserve. No calling hours or services. Cremation has taken place. Family has requested that donations be made to the RMH
