Gregory B. Sommer, 71 years of age of Hiram, passed away Sunday, November 28, 2021 at UH-Portage Medical Center in Ravenna. Born at East Cleveland, Ohio on January 13, 1950, he was the son of the late Carl and Louise Sommer. A longtime Solon resident where he graduated from Solon High School, he had been a resident of Hiram the past 25 years. A self-employed carpenter, he had been employed also at Gallo Displays in Cleveland. Mr. Sommer served with honor in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Era. He enjoyed all Cleveland sports, hunting, being outdoors, and crafting his skills with anything wood. Survivors include his children, Nick (Alyssa) Sommer of Cleveland, and Tracy Sommer of Florida; brother Carl Sommer of Mantua and sister Susan Sommer of Florida; grandchildren, Jemma and Nino; and longtime companion Lydia D’Amato at home. His sisters Sharon Genske and Shelly Spetich preceded him in death. No calling hours or services at this time. Cremation has been held.
