Harold M. Wall's Obituary
SHALERSVILLEHarold M. Wall, 88 years of age, became Our Gift to God on Wednesday June 29, 2011 at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna, Ohio. Mr. Wall was God's Gift to Us on April 12, 1923 in Ada, West Virginia the son of the late Major and Pearl ( Hylton ) Wall.Formerly of Cleveland, he was a resident of the Shalersville area since 1959. Mr. Wall was employed as a spray painter at Fisher Body in Euclid, Ohio, retiring in 1983 after 30 years of service, and was a member of Local 1045 in Cleveland. A.U.S. Marine Veteran having served his country in World War II in the Pacific Theatre, he was a member of what was known as the " Forgotten Battalion", seeing combat on Tarawa Islands, Saipan, Guam and Iwo Jima.He 2010, he was selected to fly the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. to see the World War II Monument. He was a member of the Ravenna V.F.W. and the Ravenna Church of Christ. Mr. Wall enjoyed attending World War II reunions, woodworking and traveling with his wife, having special found memories of their visit to the Wall Drug Store in South Dakota. On September 10, 1955, he married his beloved wife Dorothy P. ( Simmons ) Wall who survives at their home. Also surviving are his children Charles H. ( Sandra ) "Cookie" Goff of Sturgeon, Missouri, Wilma ( Tim ) Kelly of Ravenna and Janet Coates of Waynesburg, Ohio; brothers John W., Frank, Joe and Scotty Wall all of Princeton, West Virginia and Robert Wall of Grafton, West Virginia; 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua, where Rev. Terry Smith will officiate at his funeral service at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday July 6, 2011. Mr. Wall will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery in Shalersville Township with full military honors provided by U.S. Marine Corps Honor Guard Team, assisted by Mantua American Legion Post No. 193.
