Harvey D. McGarry, Jr's Obituary
ALLENTOWN, PA Harvey Dean McGarry, Jr., 44 years of age, peacefully became Our Gift to God on Saturday February 26, 2011. Harv was God's Gift to Us on December 27, 1966 in Ravenna, Ohio, the son of Harvey D. and Laura (Dumont) McGarry, Sr. He graduated at the top of his class in 1985 from Emmaus High School and was a 1989 cum laude graduate of the University of Delaware. He was a friend of St. John's Lutheran Church, Emmaus. Harv proudly played football for the Emmaus Hornets and for his freshman year at Guilford College, NC. He was an ace salesperson and traveled extensively for several firms, and worked for 10 years in the travel field, both in Allentown and Washington DC. His last position was with Buy-Rite Equipment, Inc. in Allentown. He loved sports of every kind, but especially football, and was a fanatic Redskins and Ohio State University fan. His family and friends were his greatest pride and treasure, and his laughter and joy of life will remain his greatest gift to them. Survivors include his parents of Allentown; Beloved Sister, Tammy, wife of Steven Nickel of San Diego, CA; Adored Nephew, Alexander Nickel; Proud Godson, Logan E. Dumont; Aunts and Uncles Gary and Ann Lehman of Yuma, AZ, Dorothy Kobus of Houston, TX, Ralph and Ann Dumont of Mentor, Oh and Nancy Dumont of Mantua, OH; Cousins, Wade, Valeria and Randy Lehman and families; Best Friends and Cousins, Rich and Mary Dumont and children , RJ, Emory, and Logan, Jennifer and Sam Galloway, Alan Dumont and daughters, Sophia and Victoria, and Cordelia and Glen Bucher and children, Scot, Collette, Tristan, and Michael; Great-Uncle and Aunt John and Clara Barnett, and a host of adored cousins. He was preceded in death by his proud namesake and paternal grandparents Harvey D. and Arlene McGarry and maternal grandparents Ralph Dumont and Dorothy Toth. Calling hours will be Tuesday March 8, 2011 from 10:30 A.M.-12:00 Noon at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua, where services will be held at 12:00 Noon with Rev. Michael Garvey officiating. Harv will then be laid to rest at Hillside Cemetery in Mantua alongside of his beloved grandparents. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested in Harvey's name to St. John's Lutheran Church, 501 Chestnut St., Emmaus, PA 18049.
