Helen M. Reeder Gammel's Obituary
AURORA-MANTUA Helen M. Reeder Gammel, 91 years of age, became Our Gift to God on Wednesday April 24, 2013 at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna, Ohio. Helen was God's Gift to Us on July 19, 1921, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Bencso) Fejedelem. A lifetime resident of the Aurora and Mantua areas, Helen was a longtime member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Aurora where she maintained an active role with the Alter and Rosary Society. In the 1950's, Helen began her career in newspaper advertising with the Mantua Record, following which she was employed in the 1960's for the Record Courier in the Advertising Department, then as Advertising-Sales Manager for the Trader in Garrettsville. Helen's warm smile and outgoing personality were always an asset in her career, as well as making friends throughout her life. A "People Person", Helen enjoyed life and will be missed by both family and friends whose paths she crossed. Gardening, the outdoors, traveling with her late husband Leonard to Europe including Hungary were activities she enjoyed. Spending time with her grandchildren served to create cherished memories for them and special times for her. Helen is survived by her daughters Mary Russell of Phoenix, Arizona and Sharon Kilbourn of Mantua, and her grandchildren Matthew (Amy) Russell, Nicole Russell, Sean Kilbourn and Donia Kilbourn and 2 great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her first husband William Reeder in 1987, her second husband Dr. Leonard Gammel, Sr. in 2006, her brother Joseph Fejedelem and sister Margaret Pemberton. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2:00 P.M.-4:00 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service, St.Rt. 44 at the corner of 4668 Pioneer Trail, Mantua, where prayers will be said Monday at 9:15 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday April 29, 2013, 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Aurora with Rev. James M. Daprile,Ph-D, Pastor officiating.
