Hugh Haines' Obituary
MANTUA Hugh Haines, 90 years of age, of Brooksville, Florida, passed away Monday, September 7, 2009 in Brooksville. Mr.Haines was born on April 22, 1919 in Morgan County, Ohio the son of the late Mr. and Mrs.Vernon Haines of Hackney, Ohio. A former longtime Mantua Area resident, he retired after 36 years of employment from the Buckeye Pipeline. In his youth, he was a semi-pro baseball player. Mr. Haines was a proud U. S. Navy veteran of World War II. Hugh was a sincere believer in Almighty God and His saving Grace, frequently inspired by Billy Graham, He will be sorely missed by his family whom he loved very much. Survivors include his wife Virginia Haines at their home. Also surviving are his children Allison Haines of Brownsville, Florida, Patricia (Don) Spears of Akron, Linda (Bob) Thorne, Jr. of Land-O-Lakes, Florida, Ronnie Hines of Mantua, Rover (Rebecca) Hines of Kent and Rick (Vicky) Haines of North Canton, Ohio. 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his beloved first wife Mona Haines, and most recently, his daughter-in-law, Sandy Haines. No calling hours. A graveside funeral service will be held Friday, October 2, 2009 at Hillside Cemetery in Mantua at 2:30 P.M. with Rev. Carolyn Berry officiating. Military honors will be provided by members of Mantua American Legion Post No. 193 and members of the U.S. Navy Honor Guard. Family and friends are invited to join at the Mantua K of C Hall on Rt 44 following the funeral services for a luncheon and time of fellowship. Arrangements are by the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua.
