James A. “Jimmy” Barr, 70 years of age, passed away Monday January 29, 2018 at his residence from complications from Crohn’s disease. Born in Warren, Ohio on February 7, 1947, he was the son of the late Alva Guy and Ruth J. (Aubel) Barr, Jr. A 1965 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School, he then served in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam Era. Jimmy was employed by the Penn Central Railroad as an engineer from where he retired. He also operated an ice cream truck in the Niles area for several years, and was well known for his handyman and fixer upper skills. He loved watching football and will be remembered as an uncle who truly cared for his nieces and nephews. Survivors include his daughter Susan D. Cross of Warren, Ohio; two granddaughters Brandi and Megan Cross; sisters Janet (John) Pumphrey of Canfield, Ohio, June (Michael) Zamecnik of Hiram, Ohio and Candy (Michael) Pollard of Ravenna, Ohio; six nieces and four nephews. No calling hours. Graveside funeral services will be held on Monday February 5, 2018, 10:30 A.M. at Hillside Cemetery on West Prospect Street, Mantua, Ohio.
