SHALERSVILLEJames R. Spence, 90, of Shalersville Township began his heavenly journey with a smile on Friday June 24, 2016. He was born May 28, 1926 to Iva Lucinda and Edgar Thomas Spence of Kent, Ohio. Jim served in the Army Air Corp during the Second World War. He was a Founding Charter Member of the Crestwood Lion's Club and a very active member of Portage Faith United Methodist Church. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Anna E. (Csuti) Spence, and his 4 children, Tim (Robin) Spence of Charleston, SC, Cindy (Kevin) Pearce of Mantua, Steve (Shelly) Spence of Mansfield OH and John Spence of Shalersville. He will be missed by his 7 grandchildren, Ryan (Nicola) Spence, Justin Spence, Kyle, Connor, Jocelyn Pearce, Samantha, and Katie Spence. Jim was a truly Christian gentleman, a faithful husband, father, friend and churchman! A Celebration of Life Service will be held July 17 at 2:00 PM at Portage Faith United Methodist Church, Mantua. Immediately following the service, there will be a gathering in the Fellowship Hall to share fond memories and stories with the family.
