James A. Umbaugh's Obituary
HIRAMJames A. Umbaugh, 77 years of age, passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday February 9, 2016. Born in Akron, Ohio on July 21, 1938, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Alice (Reid) Umbaugh. A resident of the Hiram area the past 38 years, Jim formerly was employed at Goodyear from 1962-1965. In 1965 he began his career with Umbaugh Pole Buildings in Ravenna where he rose to the position of President. Jim proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. Jim and his wife Mary (Waite) Umbaugh first met in Chicago, and were married on April 20, 1963. An avid photographer and woodworker, he also enjoyed beekeeping, gardening and sailing. Survivors include his wife Mary at home; his children John (Heather) Umbaugh, Leslie (Greg) Collins, Kathy (Mike) Kelly and Kelly (Mike) Prill; and grandchildren Elizabeth (Andrew), Sean, James, Emily, Sarah, Matthew, Madison, Megan, Max, Oliver and Violet. He was preceded in death by his sister Barbara McDevitt. Cremation has taken place. Memorial visitation will be held Saturday February 13, 2016 from 2:00 P.M.-4:00 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service, 4668 Pioneer Trail at the corner of St. Rt. 44, Mantua, Ohio 44255. Should friends desire, donations are suggested to the Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44110.
