Jerry W. Carlton's Obituary
Jerry W. Carlton, age 80 of Mantua Twp., passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, Saturday, May 11, 2024.
Jerry was born in Ravenna, Ohio on April 19, 1944 to the late Willis and Dorothy (Luce) Carlton. He was a 1962 graduate of Crestwood High School and entered into a lifelong career in the trucking industry. Along with his passion for trucking, Jerry also enjoyed traveling, truck and tractor pulls, gun collecting, trips in his RV and being the “Bossman”, but what he enjoyed the most was spending time with his family.
Jerry was the owner of AWL Transport dba TLX, a legend in the flatbed trucking industry. He was a proud member of the ATA, OTA, TCA, National Rifle Association, the Trucker-Biker Group and a devoted member of Christ Community Chapel in Hudson.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 42 years, Heather (DeFore) Carlton of Mantua; children, Gloria Vechery (Scott) of Hiram, Linda Carlton of Mantua, Heidi Carlton of Northfield, Dustin Carlton of Aurora and Molly Mohammed (Ryan) of Ontario; grandchildren, Stevee Burkhart (Shawn), Scottie Vechery, Christian, Eva and William Pickering, Alexandria, Jordan and Logan Carlton, Isabel and Olivia Nguyen, and Miguel and Catalina Mohammed; and one great granddaughter Bexlee Burkhart; brothers Gary Carlton (Jane) and Philly Carlton (Wendy) both of Mantua, and his best friend, Patrick Fojas of Aurora.
Friends may gather for visitation at Green Funeral Care, 4668 Pioneer Trail, (at the corner of St. Rt. 44), Mantua, on Thursday, May 16, 2024 from 2-8 pm. Additional visitation on Friday, May 17, 2024 at Christ Community Chapel, 750 W. Streetsboro St., Hudson, from 11am – 1pm. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1 pm. Jerry will be laid to rest at Westlawn Cemetery in Mantua.
