Jessie B. Tayerle-Flickinger's Obituary
MANTUA TWP. Jessie B. Tayerle-Flickinger 103 years of age of Mantua Township, passed away Saturday January 24, 2009 at Anna Maria of Aurora. Born on December 12, 1905 in Bristolville, Ohio she was the daughter of the late Bert and Jeanette (Burell) Jobe. A homemaker, Jessie was a lifetime Mantua area resident, where she was active with the Mantua Ladies Cemetery Association, Mantua Garden Club, "Mothers Singers" the D.A.R. and the Chagrin Valley Doll Club. As the oldest living member of the Mantua-Center Christian Church, Jessie sang in the church choir for over 50 years. For many years, she farmed in Mantua with her late husband and raised horses. Jessie collected and carved over 1000 hand made dolls and also was a member of the Tree City Carvers Club. Jessie married Yaro Tayerle who preceded her in death in 1963 after 39 years of marriage, following which she married Willard Flickinger who preceded her in death in 1980 following 16 years of marriage. Survivors include her sons Robert (Ima) Tayerle of Arizona, Richard (Carol) Tayerle and Jerry (Claire) Tayerle both of Mantua, her sister Betsy Miller of Florida, 18 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren, She was preceded in death by her daughter Lois Bogan, brothers Leon, Burt, Burrell and Ralph Jobe and sisters Vida Weeks and Dorothy Schoville. Funeral services will be Friday January 30, 2009 at 6:00 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua, where friends may call from 5:00 P.M. until service time. Final resting place will be at Westlawn Cemetery in Mantua Township.
