John L. Atkinson's Obituary
MANTUAJohn L. Atkinson, 63 years of age, passed away Sunday December 25, 2011 at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna, Ohio. Born on August 10, 1948 in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of the late Walter P. and Margaret R. (Bialko) Atkinson, Sr. A lifetime Mantua area resident, he had been employed for 20 years as a rubber extruder operator at Variseal Manufacturing in Parkman. John was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Viet Nam Era. John enjoyed playing the lottery, working and tractors and cars, and was always doing special things with his son Johnnie "The Boy" and cherished those times they spent together, as well as other times spent with his family. On April 28, 1979, he married Lorrie M. (Sawastuk) Atkinson who survives at their home. Also surviving is his son John L. Atkinson,Jr. at home, brothers Wally (Rosemary) of Kent, Tom (Jackie) of Warren, Bill (Gale Edwards) of Brady Lake, Jim (Diane) of Kentucky, Robert(Cindy) of Shalersville, Steve of Florida, Joe(Nancy) and David (Beth) both of Arizona, his sister Mary Rita Atkinson of Ravenna, his sister-in-law Ellen Atkinson of Garrettsville and many other loving nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and a wealth of friends. He was preceded in death by his brother Rick Atkinson. No calling hours. Cremation has been held. John will be laid to rest at Westlawn Cemetery in Mantua Township. Arrangements are by the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua. MANTUAA graveside burial service for John L. Atkinson, 63 years of age, will be held Friday at Westlawn Cemetery in Mantua Township at 1:30 P.M. Mr. Atkinson passed away Sunday December 25, 2011.
