John H. Cain's Obituary
FREEDOM TOWNSHIP - John H. Cain, 91 years of age, became Our Gift to God on Saturday August 6, 2011 at his residence in Freedom Township, Ohio. John was God's Gift to Us on May 5, 1920 in Hiram, Ohio the son of the late James Henry and Della Mae (Tickle) Cain. A lifetime area resident, John was employed as a carpenter for Robert Bossow Construction in Garrettsville, while always maintaining a lifelong love of the land, and following his retirement farmed God's land for many years. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and Carpenters Union. John served his country in World War II in the U.S. Army. John was a very active member of His Ministry in Aurora, where he was known as "Grandpa John" to the children at his church, as well as to all children that he came to know. In addition, you could always count on "Grandpa John" to have candy in his pocket for children and adults, while his Smile and "Pranksterism" became a lifetime trademark. The legacy of John Cain will include his love and devotion to family and church. On December 1, 1946, he married Doris M. (Thomas) Cain who preceded him in death on May 9, 1996. Survivors include his daughters Linda and Kathy Cain both of Freedom Township and Diane (Timothy B.) Sparacio of Simpsonville, South Carolina, brothers Harold (Martha) Cain of Freedom, Lloyd(June) Cain of Nelson and Don McCort of Arizona, sister Josie (Ned) Underhill of New Mexico and his loving grandson Sean Sparacio. He was preceded in death by his brothers Clyde, Bud, Pete, Raymond and Robert Cain and sisters Mildred Vondrask, Laura Andrews and Rose Dean. Calling hours will be Thursday from 5:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. at His Ministry, 3051 State Route 82, Aurora, Ohio, where his funeral service will be Thursday August 11, 2011 at 7:00 P.M. with Pastor Jim Atkins officiating. John will be laid to rest Friday August 12, 2011 10:00 A.M. at Drakesburg Cemetery in Freedom Township where he will receive full military honors. (Everyone Please Meet At The Cemetery). In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to His Ministry or to Grace Hospice Ohio, 7206 Market St., Suite B, Youngstown, Ohio 44512.
