Joseph A. Hoefler's Obituary
RAVENNA-SHALERSVILLE Joseph A. Hoefler, 84 years of age, passed away Saturday December 6, 2014 in Streetsboro, Ohio. Born in Akron, Ohio on September 30, 1930, he was the son of the late Mathais and Julia (Mick) Hoefler. He was an area resident for over 60 years, and had been employed at Ford Motor Company Walton Hills Division, retiring after 40 years of service. Mr. Hoefler proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army, receiving 2 Purple Hearts and the Bronze Star. He was a member of Maplewood Christian Church in Ravenna, and was a local scout master for many years. Joe had a "Love" for music that included Polka dancing and a passion for traveling that included trips to Mexico, Alaska and throughout the United States, as well as deep sea fishing. He will forever be remembered by his family for his warm care of family and how special family times and family meals were to him. On June 14, 1952, he married Glenos (Bateman) Hoefler who survives at home. Also surviving are his children Bruce Hoefler of Columbus, Ohio, Glenn Hoefler of Apple Creek, Ohio, Linda (Bob) Holland of Temecula, California and Cynthia (Nick) Racin of North Jackson, Ohio, brothers Norman (Jeanne) Hoefler of Austintown, Ohio and Mack Hoefler of Alliance, Ohio, and his two grandchildren Amanda Holland and Raven Hoefler. He was preceded in death by his son Keith Hoefler in 2013. No calling hours. Private family burial will be held. A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday December 14, 2014, 12:30 p.m. at Maplewood Christian Church, 7300 St.Rt. 88, Ravenna, Ohio 44266 officiated by Pastor Ken Warrren. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials in the name of Mr. Hoefler to the Hospice & Visiting Nurse of Robinson Memorial Hospital. Arrangements are by the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua.
