Julius "Jay" Vargo, Jr's Obituary
MANTUA TWP. Julius "Jay" Vargo, Jr., 86 years of age, became Our Gift to God on Saturday November 19, 2011 at his residence with his loving family and church family at his side. Mr. Vargo was God's Gift to Us on July 4, 1925 in Cleveland, Ohio the son of the late Julius and Ida (Monus) Vargo, Sr. A resident of Mantua Township the past 34 years, he had been employed by the City of Shaker Hts. in public transit as a motorman, and also worked at several machine shops in Cuyahoga County over the years. He served his country with honor in World War II in the U.S. Navy. A member of His Ministry in Aurora, he was a former usher and assisted Pastor Udell and the congregation whenever called upon. Mr. Vargo was an avid stamp collector and was talented with his woodworking skills, and together with his late wife they completed the remodeling of their residence. On October 26, 1946, he married Mary Grace Vargo who preceded him in death on July 21, 2008. Also preceding him were 2 sisters. Survivors include his son Richard (Ruth) Vargo of Pennsylvania and his daughter Linda Vargo of Mantua. Calling hours will be Tuesday November 22, 2011 from 5:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. at His Ministry, 3051 State Route 82, Aurora, Ohio where his funeral service will begin at 7:00 P.M. with Pastor James Atkins officiating. Mr. Vargo will be laid to rest beside his loving wife on Wednesday November 23, 2011 10:00 A.M. at Westlawn Cemetery in Mantua Township, Ohio with full military honors provided by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard Team assisted by American Legion Post No. 193. Procession will form at the church at 9:15 A.M. Wednesday. Arrangements are by the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua.
