Karen A. Sawastuk's Obituary
MIDDLEFIELD Karen A. Kachenko-Sawastuk, 60 years of age, passed away Wednesday April 11, 2012 at the Hospice of the Western Reserve in Cleveland, Ohio. Karen was born in Warren, Ohio on February 13, 1952, the daughter of the late John and Margaret (Vollhardt) Kachenko, Jr. A resident of Middlefield since 1980, she was a graduate of Bristolville High School in 1970, following which she attended Kent State University majoring in Art. From 1999-2009, she had been employed as an inspector at Kraftmaid in Middlefield. She was a member of the Ravenna Assembly of God church in Ravenna, Ohio. Karen enjoyed creating pencil and oil paintings, spending time at the beach and loved animals. On June 25, 1977, she married James Sawastuk who survives at their residence. Also surviving are her children Matthew (Melissa) Sawastuk of Ravenna and Kristy (Jon Hanwell) Sawastuk of Columbus, Ohio, her siblings Jackie (David) Kish of Bristolville and Jayne Kachenko of Marion, Ohio, her grandchildren Meleah, Emily and Noah and her 4-legged child "Queenie". She was preceded in death by one daughter Autumn Lynn Sawastuk, one brother John Kachenko and "Tory". Funeral services for Karen will be Saturday April 14, 2012, 1:00 P.M. at the Ravenna Assembly of God, 6401 State Route 14, Ravenna, Ohio 44266 with Pastor Gary E. Beck officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 12:00 Noon Saturday until the time of her services. Cremation will follow with a private burial to take place at a later date. Arrangements are by the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua.
