Karen E. Youngblood's Obituary
SHALERSVILLE Karen E. Youngblood, 70 years of age, a lifetime resident of Shalersville, passed away Monday October 19, 2009 at her residence. Karen was born on October 12, 1939 in Ravenna, Ohio the daughter of the late William H. and Doris M. (Fenn) White. Karen attended Kent State University. From 1980-1996 she was the Day Care Director of Portage Play & Learn. Karen was a member of the Kent Garden Club and a former member of Portage Faith United Methodist Church. Karen was a lady who truly appreciated music of all kinds, dancing, gardening, reading to all children and loved her grandchildren and the time she spent with them sharing her unique joy of life. Karen will be remembered as a "Social Butterfly" whose smile, charm, warmth and love always provide a sparkling presence. On August 18, 1962, she married Arthur W. Youngblood who preceded her in death in 1989. Also preceding her were three sisters Winifred Powers, Janice Koleta and Marilyn Weis, Karen is survived by her devoted children Andrew (Luanna) Youngblood, Sr. and Heidi (William) Benjamin both of Mantua and Heather (Joe) Giulitto of Shalersville and her nine loving grandchildren. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua. Family and friends are invited to attend her graveside funeral service Thursday October 22, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Hillside Cemetery in Mantua, where Andrew, Heidi and Heather will share in a tribute to their mother. Mr. Terry Montz will provide closing prayers. Karen will be laid to rest beside her husband Arthur, with Bill Benjamin, Cole Benjamin, Olin Benjamin, James Krolik, Vinnie Giulitto, Andrew Youngblood, Jr., Michael Powers, Jay Koleta and John Benjamin respectfully acting as pallbearers. Following the graveside service, friends are invited to join with her family at the Shalersville Township Hall for a luncheon and time to share special memories. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested for those who desire in her name to the Shalersville Township Historical Society Beautification and Landscaping Fund.
