Obituary
AUBURN TOWNSHIP
Kenneth R. Krause, Sr., 91 years of age, was Our Gift to God on Monday May 4, 2020. He was God’s Gift to Us on April 22, 1929 in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of the late August and Edith (Yoder) Krause. A lifetime Auburn resident, Ken had been employed as a truck driver for Manfredi Trucking in Newbury retiring in 1992. During the Korean Conflict, Ken served with honor in the U.S. Army. As a very active member of Mantua American Legion Post No. 193, he participated with their Honor Guard Team traveling to numerous cemeteries, including the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Along with fellow veterans, he went to Washington, D.C. on the Honor Flight. As one of the founding members of Auburn Community Church where he was President of the congregation for many years, he showed by example the importance of Christ in his life. Ken loved to sing and sang with the choir both at home and in Florida. He always had a special prayer when the family gathered. Following retirement he and Fae enjoyed 20 years of traveling to Florida in the winter, and enjoyed the years of camping and travel often making new friends, and no matter where he was Ken knew someone. If there was a good restaurant to eat at in their travels, Ken knew the location. Active with the family in 4H and horse shows, he also loved antique tractors and the steam shows. He loved to mow grass, and kept his yard looking like a golf course. He enjoyed making maple syrup from the trees in their woods, along with Gus Loma, and later with Dan and Sheree. The family loved to help gather sap and spend time in the sugar house. On May 10, 1952, he married his beloved wife Claire “Fae” (Dezort) Krause who survives. Also surviving are his devoted children Kenneth (ReNae) Krause, Jr., of Mantua, Daniel (Sheree) Krause of Burton and Diane (Mike) Schneider of Auburn Twp., his dear sister Nancy Gall of Hiram, his caring niece Debbie (Rick) Blankenship of Auburn Twp., 7 loving grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. His siblings Arthur, Junior and Betty Krause, and great niece Jodi Blankenship preceded him in death. No calling hours. A graveside funeral service will be held Saturday June 20, 2020, 2:00 P.M. at Mapleshade Cemetery in Auburn Township, Ohio with Pastor Dan Esala officiating. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army Honor Guard Team, assisted by members of Mantua American Legion Post No. 193. Arrangements are by the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua, Ohio.
