Lawrence "Larry" Fahl's Obituary
Lawrence "Larry" J. Fahl, age 80, of Mantua, passed away at his home on January 28, 2026. A beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Larry was a humble man with a heart of gold who always put others first, no matter the circumstance.
Larry was born on January 6, 1946, in Ravenna, Ohio, to the late Charles and Mary (Kovach) Fahl. He was a member of the last graduating class of Hiram High School in 1964 and went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Navy as a Seabee from 1968 until his honorable discharge in 1974. During his service, Larry developed the strong work ethic, discipline, and sense of duty that remained with him throughout his life.
A proud union electrician, Larry was a member of IBEW Local No. 38 for 44 years. He took great pride in his trade and was known for his skill, reliability, and willingness to help others. There was little he couldn't fix or rig, and he was always ready to lend a hand.
Larry was married for 26 years to his beloved wife, Linda (McCoy), who passed away in 2019. Their love and partnership were the foundation of his life, and he missed her deeply.
A devoted family man, Larry leaves behind his children: Theresa (Rob) Gross, Jason (Krissy) Fahl, and Angie (Barky) Zoller; and their mother, Debbie Fahl, to whom he was previously married for many years. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Carley, Collin, Cameron, Elizabeth, Robert, and Carter; his stepdaughter, Becky Kaleda; and step-grandchildren, Hannah and Tim. He is further survived by his siblings, Barbara (Allan) Blizzard of Parkersburg, West Virginia, Harvey (Nancy) Fahl of Ravenna, and Mary Kay (Joe) Goetschius of Freedom, along with several nieces and nephews.
Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Linda; his parents, Charles and Mary; and his siblings, Charles Ernest Fahl, William Fahl, Priscilla Lewis, and Ernest Fahl.
Larry was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous and celebrated over 38 years of sobriety. He found great fulfillment in mentoring and helping others in the program. He also enjoyed nature, gardening, canning, and fishing. A devoted animal lover, Larry cared deeply for his beloved chihuahua, Chi-Chi; his cats, Mia and Moe; and made sure the birds-and squirrels-were always fed.
Calling hours will be held at Green Funeral Care, 4668 Pioneer Trail, Mantua, on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., immediately followed by a memorial service with military honors. A graveside service will be held at a later date following cremation.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Portage County Animal Protective League in Larry's honor.
