Obituary
RAVENNA
Leroy Skilton, 86 years of age, passed away Saturday June 22, 2019 in Ravenna, Ohio. Born in Ravenna Township, Ohio on January 28, 1933, he was the son of the late Ernest R. and Nettie (Hartman) Skilton. He was a lifetime Ravenna resident, and longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Mr. Skilton had been employed at the Ravenna Arsenal, 10 years at Royal Crown in Ravenna, following which he was a machine operator at Swagelok Companies until retiring in 1996. During the Korean Conflict he served his country with honor in the U.S. Air Force. Leroy enjoyed riding scenic trains, and taking family rides, and collecting O Gauge Trains. On March 10, 1962, he married his beloved wife Priscilla Skilton who preceded him in death on May 13, 2015. His brother Elwood Skilton also preceded him. Mr. Skilton is survived by his devoted children Kevin (Sherree) Skilton, Shawn (Julie) Skilton and Melanie (William) Turner; siblings Edward (Virginia) Skilton and Evelyn Carl; 8 loving grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be Thursday from 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service, 4668 Pioneer Trail at the corner of St.Rt. 44, Mantua, Ohio 44255, and Friday June 28, 2019 also at the funeral home from 10:00 A.M. until the time of funeral services at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor William Turner. Final resting place will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Ravenna, where full military honors will be provided by the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard, assisted by members of Mantua American Legion Post No. 193. Following cemetery services, family and friends are invited to return to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ravenna for a luncheon and time of fellowship. The family would like to thank Summa Hospice for the tender and loving care they provided, and would request that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Summa Hospice in his name.
