Cherished wife and mother, Lillian (Grimm) Papp, 93, passed away on October 19, 2022 from complications of a stroke.
Born on December 24, 1928 to Peter and Emma (Santon) Grimm Sr., Lillian was a proud member of one of the four founding families of Reminderville and lived in the community until 1952. She and her husband, Elmer, whom she married on August 18, 1951, built their house in Aurora, and lived in the home for 70 years.
Lillian was a longtime member of The Church in Aurora. She was the church secretary for 20 years, retiring in 1991. Lillian was active in the church Women’s Guild and Circle A and was also a member of the Aurora Chapter of the Red Hat Society. She was happy volunteering and headed the volunteer auxiliary at Hattie Larlham for several years. She also helped prepare and serve lunch to the volunteers building homes for Habitat for Humanity.
Lillian was a loving pet mom, and from Lady to Barney, many stray cats and dogs lived happy lives with the Papp family. She enjoyed sewing clothes for her daughters during their early school years and was skilled in counted cross stitch.
Lillian was preceded in death by her beloved parents and brother Peter (Cheryl) Grimm, Jr. She is survived by her husband, Elmer, daughters Barbara Katusha of Mantua and Jacquelyn (Joel) Kamerer of St. Joseph, Michigan, and nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held at Aurora Cemetery. Memorials may be made to The Church in Aurora or Portage Animal Protective League in Ravenna.
