Lorrie Stone's Obituary
GARRETTSVILLE Effa Lenore (Lorrie) Stone, 71 years of age, passed away Sunday July 11, 2010. Born in Ravenna, Ohio on April 28, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Alva Leroy and Elizabeth Louise (Kay) (Heinly) Chess. Lorrie was a lifelong resident of Garrettsville. Lorrie had many diverse interests besides her great love of her family and her beloved pets. In her younger years she was an accomplished dancer. She was head majorette and cheerleader for Garrettsville high school, and spent two summers as choreographer and dancer on the showboat "The Majestic", playing vaudeville shows along the Ohio River. She also choreographed for local high school plays for several years. Lorrie earned her cosmetology license and worked as a beautician for 14 years. Following that, she was a corrections officer with the Portage County Sheriff's office for 7 years and the owner/manager of Tri-County Uniform in Garrettsville for 14 years. Lorrie was a member of several groups including the United Methodist Church of Garrettsville, the Portage County Democratic Central Committee, the Order of Eastern Star-Windemere Chapter 388, and the Motoguzzi Motorcycle Club of Ohio. Her other hobbies included painting, gardening, interior decorating, and she was a Reiki Master for the Usui and Tibetan systems. Lorrie will be greatly missed. She is survived by her loving husband of 31 years, Ronald Stone; son David Arnold, Jr. of Chagrin Falls; daughter Cindy Arnold (Jeff) Sheehan of Garrettsville; step-daughters Ronda (Joe) Brady of Hiram and Melanie (Rich) Beal of Akron; and step-son Jeff Stone of Lincoln, Nebraska. She leaves grandchildren Elizabeth (Mark) Lyndall; Alienna Arnold; Zachary Sheehan; David Sheehan; Jared Sheehan; Tyler Brady; Olivia Brady; Haley Brady; Ethan Brady; and Jordyn Beal. Calling hours will be Thursday July 15, 2010 from 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua. Graveside services will be Friday July 16, 2010 10:00 A.M. at Fairview Cemetery in Hiram, Ohio.
