Mamoru Suzuki's Obituary
AURORA Mamoru " Gus" Suzuki, 89 years of age, passed away Monday October 19, 2015 at Anna Maria of Aurora in Aurora, Ohio. Born in Sacramento, California on May 5, 1926, he was the son of the late Kiubei and Taneo (Abe) Suzuki. Gus served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict in Germany. A Golden Gloves boxer, he used the name of Gus Koga and was well known for his boxing skills. Gus loved going to the race track and also enjoyed state lottery tickets. Survivors include his niece Sharon Shintaku of San Francisco, California; nephew Jeffrey (Carol) Suzuki, great nieces Jennifer and Joann, and great-great- niece Jadyn all of Mr. Prospect, Illinois. Also surviving are the Dixon family, who for many years treated Gus as part of their family. They were beyond kind and generous to him and were very much cherished by Gus. A big thank you to Marlene who has now passed and her daughters, Narkeytah, Edwina, and Marlene Jr.A special thank you to the staff at Anna Maria of Aurora, where without the loving care and support by the staff and the Dixon family, Gus would not have been able to thrive as long as he did.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by by his brother Hiroshi, and sisters Mitsuko and Kiyo Shintaku. No calling hours. Gus is being laid to rest at the Ohio Western Reserve Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio. Arrangements are by the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua, Ohio.
