Margaret L. Pennell's Obituary
Margaret Lucille Pennell, age 95 of Ravenna, passed away peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by her family, Saturday, April 12, 2025. Born January 30, 1930 in Bedford, Ohio, Margaret was the daughter of the late Helmet and Rose (Mack) Oldenburg.
Margaret loved the outdoors, planting many beautiful flower gardens and trees. She would lend her expertise to her family by planning and sending them various plants to make their own gardens, including a full diagram of where to plant them unless she could plant them herself. Even in winter time, we couldn't hold her back from feeding birds to occasionally sunbathing on the back porch. Throughout her life she would travel with her siblings, husband, and children adventuring far and wide, including a trip to Poland with her mother. Another noteworthy contribution to the community was her volunteer work with elementary students advancing their ability to read. She enjoyed a long meaningful life. She will greatly be missed.
Along with her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband William Pennell and siblings, Elaine Prosen, Mitzi Concz, Martin Oldenburg, Fred Oldenburg and David Oldenburg. She is survived by her children, Jeffrey Pennell, Craig Pennell (Colleen) and Hugh Pennell (Darla Spencer); grandchildren, Jessica Pennell (Rich Shackelford), Billy Pennell, Jared Pennell (Kristen), and Lauren Pennell; great grandchildren, Lillie Shackelford, Rich Schackelford, Cody Pennell, David Pennell and Dean Pennell, and a brother Jerry Oldenburg (Rosemary).
Family and friends may gather for visitation at Green Funeral Care, 4668 Pioneer Trail, (at the corner of St. Rt. 44), Mantua, on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 from 11am - 1 pm, immediately followed by a funeral service at 1pm. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Shalersville.
