Marie K. Dunlap's Obituary
MANTUA-SHALERSVILLE Marie Kathryn Dunlap, 95 years of age, passed away Tuesday April 7, 2015 at The Elms of Hudson in Hudson, Ohio. Born in Cleveland, Ohio on May 17, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Alrice and Delia (Jenkins) House. A resident of the Mantua-Shalersville area most of her life, Mrs. Dunlap was the owner-operator of the Colonial Restaurant in Hudson with her late husband, following which she owned and operated Dunlap's Restaurant in Mantua. Mrs. Dunlap also was a cook at Mantua Center School for several years, and then at Walden Country Club for a period of time. She enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Mantua Center Garden Club, a very talented seamstress, truly loved cooking for her family and cherished the times she spent with her grandchildren. On January 25, 1940, she married Orlo L. Dunlap, Sr. who preceded her in death in 1964. Her siblings Wayne Lillick and Arlene Kupczak also preceded her in death. Survivors include her son Orlo "Pete" (Karen Lehoux) Dunlap, Jr. of Mantua, daughter Marjorie (Dave) Gibson of Hudson, Florida, grandchildren Brent, Dana and Joseph, 6 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Calling hours will be Friday from 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua, where her funeral service will be held Saturday April 11, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Laurie Metzko officiating. Final resting place will follow at Aurora City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Hospice of The Western Reserve, 300 East 185th.
