Marilyn E. Fitzgerald's Obituary
AURORA Marilyn E. Fitzgerald, 88 years of age, passed away peacefully Sunday May 1, 2011 in Aurora, Ohio. Born on March 10, 1923 in Cleveland, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Marie (Mahon) McConville. A homemaker, Mrs. Fitzgerald had been a resident of Aurora for over 50 years. She was a graduate of St. Augustine's Academy and Dyke Business College. Mrs. Fitzgerald was one of the founding members of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Aurora, where she was active in the Altar and Rosary Society, and taught children's religious classes for many years. She belonged to various golf leagues and with her husband, they traveled to play at numerous interesting courses. Following his death, she continued with her golf, tennis and bridge games, as she had always been a sports enthusiast and was an avid ice skater. The dimming of her sight made reading mysteries difficult, but thanks to the "talking book" program sponsored by the State, she continued to enjoy her authors' and their books. On March 22, 1945 she married Edward J. Fitzgerald who preceded her in death in 1987. Also preceding were her siblings Robert and William McConville and Nancy Heywood. Survivors include her children James Fitzgerald of Aurora, Shawn (Ruth) Fitzgerald of Mantua, Patricia Fitzgerald of Aurora, Susan O'Donnel of Pickerington, Ohio, Constance Fitzgerald of Charleston, West Virginia and Michele (Bill) Stenger of Mantua, and her 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren whom she adored. No calling hours. A private burial is being held at Aurora City Cemetery. A Memorial Mass to celebrate her life will be Friday May 6, 2011 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 342 S.Chillicothe Rd. with Rev.Fr. James Daprile, PhD officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Hattie Larlham Foundation, 9772 Diagonal Rd., Mantua, Oh. 44255 or to her church. Arrangements are by the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua.
