Marion “Lucille” Higgins
April 22, 1942 – February 5, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marion Lucille Higgins, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and a kind and loving Christian. Lucille left us on February 5, 2025, at the age of 82. She was born on April 22, 1942, in Silver Point, Tennessee, and spent much of her life in Mantua, Ohio, after previously living in Port Huron, Michigan.
Lucille’s life was defined by love, joy, generosity, and unwavering faith. She was the glue that held her family together. She was always there, ready with a cup of coffee, a listening ear, and advice that came from a lifetime of hard-earned wisdom. Lucille was a steadfast yet feisty presence in the lives of those she loved, offering guidance, support, and an abundance of affection. Her family meant everything to her, and she will be missed dearly by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She was predeceased by her parents, Cordelia (nee Nash) and Walter Jankowski and her son, Gregory Michael Higgins. Lucille is survived by her loving husband, Theodore R. Higgins; siblings Diana Woloszyk and Gene (Linda) Jankowski; children, Rhonda (John) Chartier, Theodore (Nancy) Higgins II, Theresa (Gary) Scotton, and Daniel (Kimberly) Higgins; grandchildren, Brandon Chartier, Jordyn (Chase Damiano) Chartier, John Scotton, Jacob Scotton, Rachel Scotton, Rebecca Scotton, Mark (Kara) Cerny, and Shelley (Jim) Funai; great-grandchildren, Elena Fitzgerald, Allie Cerny, Evan Cerny, Colin Cerny, and Zac Damiano; a multitude of nieces and nephews as well as a circle of family and friends who will always remember her.
We’ll be celebrating Lucille’s life on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at Green Funeral Care, 4668 Pioneer Trail, Mantua, Ohio 44255. Come by between 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm for a visit and a hug (if you want). A short eulogy will follow at 2:00 pm to honor the woman who meant so much to us all. Afterwards, we’ll gather at the Streetsboro Church of Christ, 1386 Russell Dr, Streetsboro, OH 44241, for a meal, laughs, and memories. The family will have a small, private graveside service on Monday.
