Marla Jean Markham's Obituary
HIRAM RAPIDS Marla Jean (?M.J.?) Markham, 70, died after a long, courageous battle against cancer the evening of Monday, February 6, 2017. She passed peacefully at home with family by her side. Born April 15, 1946 in Akron, Ohio, Marla was raised by Clarence and Marion Horn. She always joked there was no excuse for forgetting her birthday since it was the same as tax day. She was a member of the final graduating class of Hiram high school in 1964. Being a citizen of the world, Marla lived all across the United States from California to Arkansas, but she was always an Ohioan at heart. First acquiring her associate?s degree of nursing in Arkansas, she was a steady, smiling rock of compassionate stern unflappability in the CCU at Robinson Memorial Hospital for over thirty years. Marla is survived by a daughter, Christine Vaughn of Hiram Rapids, and two sons: William Taylor of Tucson, Arizona, and Leon Markham of Akron, Ohio. She has two brothers: Ray of California, and Robert of Idaho. She will be continued by four grandchildren: Raechel, Christopher, David, and Timothy; and two great-grandchildren: Lucas and, newest arrival, one month old Jeslyn. No calling hours. A memorial service will be held at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 10692 Freedom Street, Garrettsville, Ohio 44231 on Saturday, February 18, 2017, 11:00 am. It will be followed by an intimate wake for family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the cancer/treatment organization of the donor?s choice. Arrangements are by the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua, where condolences and memories may be shared at. www.greenfamilyfuneralhome.com.
