Mary Ellen Buell's Obituary
Mary Ellen Buell of Mantua Township died Wednesday December 24, 2008 at The Woodlands at Robinson in Ravenna. Born on August 6, 1919 in Kent, Ohio to John and Ella Mae (Looker) Echelberry, Mary Ellen lived in Portage County her entire life. She attended Kent State University where she received her Bachelors degree in education and taught in both the Crestwood and Aurora public school systems. Mary Ellen married her husband, Frank T. Buell in 1943 and together they had a dairy farm, bottling and delivering their own milk known as, "Buells Golden Guernsey Milk". They traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe, Asia and to Africa, and were members of the League of Women Voters and the Aurora and Mantua Historical Societies. She is survived by her daughter, Susan (Irvin) Wilson of Warren, Ohio; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and a nephew, Ronald (Connie) Echelberry of Mantua. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank T. Buell in 2002; sons, Frederick F. and Edward G. Buell, both in 2000. Calling hours will be held Monday, December 29, 2008, from 1-2:00 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home and Crematory Service in Mantua, where a funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Chad Delaney officiating. Burial will follow at Westlawn Cemetery in Mantua Township.
