Mary Ann Lucas' Obituary
NEWBURYMary Ann Lucas, 92 years of age of Newbury, became Our Gift to God on Tuesday May 26, 2009 at Burton Health Care in Burton, Ohio. Mrs. Lucas was God's Gift to Us on October 12, 1916 in Cleveland, Ohio the daughter of the late Anton and Mary (Tuta) Ostrelich. A resident of Newbury since 1964, she was employed for 27 years at General Electric in East Cleveland as an assembler. Following her retirement from General Electric, she was employed for several years in the Housekeeping Department at Notre Dame School. A member of St. Helen's Catholic Church in Newbury, Mrs. Lucas was active with the church bingo and Las Vegas Nights fund raising activities, as well as being a volunteer for the 2 A.M. - 6 A.M. church Vigilance. Mrs. Lucas loved to Polka and enjoyed crocheting, reading, flowers and gardening and those special times spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include her daughter Jeanette (Joseph-deceased) Kulish of Mantua, her sons Sam Lucas of Baltimore, Maryland and Guy Lucas of Clarksburg, West Virginia, 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter Ray Lucas on August 21, 2001, her daughters Mary Grace Jackson in 2000 and Mary Ann Grattino in 2009 and her grandson Jamie Kulish. Calling hours will be Thursday from 5:00 P.M.- 8:00 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home and Crematory Service in Mantua, where prayers will be said Friday at 11:45 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, May 29. 2009 at 1:00 PM. at St. Helen's Catholic Church 12060 Kinsman Rd. (Rt.87) Newbury with Rev. Jay McPhillips officiating. Mrs. Lucas will be laid to rest beside her loving husband Ray at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon. Pallbearers will be Joel Kulish, Sr. Joel Kulish, Jr. Joey Kulish, Guy Lucas, Sam Lucas, Tom Tropf, Eric Nuber and Jimmy Gratttino.
