Norman Arthur Carnes, 73 years of age of Hiram, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2022, at his residence. Born in Ashtabula Ohio, on August 15, 1949, he was the son of the late Henry and Lois (Mock) Carnes. Mr. Carnes grew up in Madison, Ohio, and was a graduate of Madison High School. After high school, he joined the U.S. Navy, where he honorably served his country during the Vietnam Era. A career Navy Veteran, he retired as an OSCS in 1993. He had been employed at Convergys as a customer service representative in Jacksonville. A former longtime resident of Jacksonville, he had resided in Hiram Twp. since 2020. Mr. Carnes was a true fisherman, enjoyed race cars, and was an avid Dale Earnhardt fan. He truly loved making his grandchildren laugh, and all 8 of them will always cherish the times they had with Grandpa. On October 4, 1971, he married his beloved wife, Carol (Bales) Carnes, who survives at home. His devoted children Anthony (Kristen)) Carnes, Scott (Tanya) Carnes, both of Jacksonville, and Rhonda (Charles) Menken of Hiram also survive. His dear siblings Craig (Angie) Carnes, Raymond (Karla) Carnes, both of Jacksonville, Daryll Carnes of North Madison, Ohio, and Tracey (Yale) Carpenter of Geneva, and 8 loving grand-children also survive. His cherished grand-daughter Amber Menken, and dear brother Bruce Carnes preceded him in death. No calling hours or services. Cremation has been held. Final resting place will be private.
