Otto J. Rahach's Obituary
MANTUA Otto J. Rahach, 82 years of age, passed away Monday June 18, 2012 at his residence. Born in Cleveland, Ohio on May 7, 1930, he was the son of the late Michael and Irma (Babin) Rahach. Formerly of Richfield, he has been a resident of the Mantua area since 2001.A 1948 graduate of West Tech, he then worked with the grounds crew of the Cleveland Indians being with the tribe when they won the 1948 World Series. He then served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Rahach was employed as a tool & die maker for General Motors in Cleveland for 35 years, following which he worked at Chrysler Stamping in Twinsburg for 5 years. An avid fan of the Cleveland Indians and the Cleveland Browns, he found extreme pleasure watching his children, and then his grandchildren, participate in their sporting activities. He was very talented in pencil sketching, enjoyed playing the drums, doing carpenter work and took great pride in keeping his yard in immaculate condition. On July 26, 1955, he married Shirley A. Rahach who preceded him in death on December 31, 2000. Survivors include his children Michael (TexAnne) Rahach of Mantua, Sharon (William) Seavey of Kent and Kelly Rahach of Richmond, Ohio, his sister Ida Wancho of Cleveland and his grandchildren Taylor, Colton and Cory Rahach, and Kyle and Jayson Seavey. He was preceded in death by his siblings William, Michael and Irene Rahach. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua, and on Thursday, June 21, 2012 from 1:00 P.M. until the time of his funeral services at 1:30 P.M. with Rev. Michael Garvey officiating. He will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery in Hiram with full military honors provided by a U.S. Army Honor Guard Detail, assisted by members of American Legion Post No. 193.The family of Mr. Rahach would like to extend a special thank you to Crossroads Hospice for their loving care in this most difficult time.
