Paul Q. Stamm's Obituary
MANTUA Paul Q. Stamm, 91 years of age of Mantua, passed away Saturday October 3, 2009 at the home of his daughter Paula Tubalkain in Solon, Ohio. Paul was born in Shalersville Township, Ohio on August 23, 1918 the son of the late Archie and Gertrude (Quinn) Stamm. A lifetime resident of the Mantua-Shalersville areas, Paul graduated from Ohio State University in 1941 with a degree in Civil Engineering. Oh May 30, 1942, he married Lucille "Reddy" (Hurd) Stamm of Bainbridge Township, Ohio and they were blessed with 65 years of marriage and of raising 7 children. Paul and Reddy were dedicated travelers and together visited all 50 U.S. States, all Canadian provinces, and 6 continents. Paul was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed bridge, tennis, golf and dancing. A World War II veteran, he earned the rank of First Lieutenant in the U.S .Marine Corps. Paul was stationed in Guam serving as a radar communications specialist. After returning from the war, Paul rejoined the family business, Stamm Contracting Company of Mantua. He was a Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Ohio, and along with his father Archie and brothers, Roy and Ted managed the family business until his retirement in 1989, serving as President of the company from 1962-1989. Active in his community, Paul served 16 years as a member of the Board of Education for Crestwood Schools, being one of the longest serving board members. He was an active member of the Hilltop Christian Church in Mantua and a member of Mantua Masonic Lodge No. 533 F.&A.M. Paul is survived by his son Hal (Leigh Ann) Stamm of Mantua; daughters Barbara (Charles) Wicke of Mesa, Arizona, Janis Stamm of McKean, Pennsylvania, Paula (Toomas) Tubalkain of Solon, Ohio, Lynne Stamm of Aurora, Ohio, Sara (Jeff) Gardner of Kent, Ohio and Ellie Stamm of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, 12 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren survive, as well as his sister JoAnne Tillett of Shalersville. On May 2, 2008 he was preceded in death by his beloved wife Reddy. Also preceding him in death were his brothers Ted Stamm and Roy Stamm, sisters Bernice "Polly" Bramley, Ella Lou Guyette and Zoa Craummer. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2:00 P.M.-4:00 P.M. & 6:00 P.M.-8:00P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua, where the funeral services will be Thursday October 8, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Jeff Jackson of the Hilltop Christian Church officiating. Paul will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife Reddy at Hillside Cemetery in Mantua, with his 7 devoted children acting as pallbearers. Full Military honors will be presented by U.S. Marine Honor Guard and members of American Legion Post No. 193, Mantua, Ohio.
