Paul Szabo's Obituary
HIRAMPaul Szabo, 92 peacefully entered into eternal rest after a courageous battle with cancer at Gardens of Western Reserve in Streetsboro on Monday, April 20, 2009. Born May 13, 1916 in Cleveland, Ohio, Paul was the son of the late Michael and Elizabeth (Biro) Szabo. At the age of three, the family moved to rural Parkman/Nelson area and later purchased a farm. Paul learned the gift of giving from his father at an early age. Many times, produce and even livestock were generously given to those in need. He carried this wonderful trait throughout his entire life. At age 11 he learned to drive a car and was very proud of the fact that he drove up until seven months before his death. At twelve he learned to play the trombone and played with the Salvation Army Band in Akron and then with the Parkman Band. Also as an older teen he hauled cattle to stockyards, and hauled milk cans to and from the city. Paul married his one and only sweetheart, "Midge" on November 22, 1941. They were married for 67 years before her death in December 2008. Farming carried over into married life. When Paul finally gave up farming he worked as a machinist for Master Tool in Cleveland then went to Wean United in Warren, where he gave 27 years of service before retiring. Paul was a member of the Hilltop Christian Church in Mantua and was formerly a longtime member of the Huntsburg Baptist Church in Huntsburg. Paul loved being surrounded by his grandchildren. He had many outdoor interests and hobbies including fishing, hunting, large garden's, (oh, the sweet corn!), making maple syrup and working in the woods splitting wood. He loved the outdoors, but he loved the Lord most. Paul in survived by his sons Paul (Marilynn) of Mantua, Richard of Pinellas Park, Florida, Jeffrey (Debbie) of Hiram, daughter Pamela (William) of Akron, seven grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jennifer, Amanda, Erica, Tiffany, Madeline, Stephanie and three great-grandchildren Jocelyn, Mischa, Isabelle, sisters Helen Lafferty of Parma and Irene (Louis) Fulop of Rome, Ohio.
