Peggy Haynie- Strader's Obituary
WINDHAM-RAVENNA Peggy L. Haynie-Strader, 83 years of age, passed away Tuesday September 4, 2012 at her residence. Born in Windham, Ohio on December 5, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Grace (Pinney) Chambers. Peggy grew up in Windham and was a graduate of Windham High School. Known as "Mom Haynie" in Streetsboro, she formerly managed the Islay's Store in Streetsboro and was employed at Jefferson Materials in Streetsboro as a bookkeeper. Peggy and her 1st. husband Richard Haynie operated the first taxi service in Streetsboro, Streetsboro Taxi. Peggy also was a study hall supervisor and truant officer at Streetsboro High School. A longtime resident of Ravenna, she was a volunteer at Robinson Memorial Hospital and the Senior Center in Ravenna, and a member of the Ravenna United Methodist Church. Following the death of her husband Richard in 1988, she took her mother Grace on a special car tour of the United States in a conversion van so that she could see the sights that she had never had the opportunity to observe, and that they could enjoy as mother and daughter. Peggy is survived by her children James D. (Joan) Haynie of Maysel, West Virginia, Mike (Donna) Haynie, Linda Rickard and Claudia Kennedy all of Mantua, Nancy Bayless of Shalersville and Marie (Richard) LaRocco of Windham,19 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her 1st. husband Richard Haynie, her 2nd. husband Claude Strader and her brother James Chambers. No calling hours. A graveside funeral service will be held Saturday September 15, 2012 at Windham Township Cemetery at 11:00 A.M. Arrangements are by the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua.
