Phyllis Elaine Andrews' Obituary
Phyllis Elaine Andrews (nee Odell), age 96 of Middlefield, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, Monday, January 27, 2025. Born October 31, 1928 in Mantua, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Ray T. & Doris L. (Wilmot) Odell.
Phyllis graduated from Mantua Village High School in 1946. In 1947 she married the love of her life, Raymond Bruce Andrews. They were married for sixty-nine years, while raising their four children. Phyllis lived sixty-nine years in their family home in Troy Township.
Phyllis had a love of fashion and hand crafted her own apparel, much for her family and often for her friends throughout her life. Many a young bride came to Phyllis for her expertise in creating that perfect wedding dress. Her passion for fashion and sewing led to a life long career as a seamstress. She was employed by various dress shops, including The Village department store in Middlefield, serving customers in fashion sales and doing expert alterations. Phyllis played the organ in her home and was an accomplished singer. She enjoyed sharing her talent in the choirs of the churches she attended, primarily The Troy Congregational Church, where she taught Sunday School. She enjoyed attending musical performances with her friends and was a devoted supporter of the Century Village Museum in Burton and the Geauga County Historical Society. But her greatest joy was her family.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her beloved husband Raymond in 2017, a daughter Susan Elaine Andrews in 2021, and a brother Ray T. Odell Jr. She is survived by her children Laurel Calvert (Russell Jr.), Linda Petersen (Jim) and Robert Andrews (Joan); grandchildren Jennifer Dawson (Nick), Jason Calvert (Elizabeth), Ashley Andrews (Jon), Raymond Andrews (Rachel), Jeremy Andrews (Brenna) and Jordan Andrews; great grandchildren Audrey, Grace, Patrick and Ray, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
