Phyllis "Jean" Fields' Obituary
Phyllis Jean Fields, affectionately known as Jean to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2025, in Ravenna, Ohio, at the age of 89. Born on June 26, 1935, in Widen, West Virginia, Jean was the cherished daughter of the late George and Lennie Mae (Wilson) Conner.
Jean's early years were spent in Charleston, West Virginia. At the tender age of 16, Jean's life took a joyful turn when she married the love of her life, Austin Fields, on March 1, 1952. Their union was one of enduring love and partnership until Austin's passing in 2002.
Jean worked for David McCracken Dentistry, and later, retired from Giant Eagle Bakery in Ravenna. She was a resident of Mantua from 1952 to 2005 until she moved to Ravenna to be closer to her family.
Jean's talents extended far beyond the workplace. She was an avid cook, baker, and seamstress. Her homemade clothing was not only a showcase of her skill but also an expression of her creativity and individuality. Jean's kitchen was a place of warmth and love, where she crafted delicious meals and baked goods for her family and friends.
Along with her parents and husband, Jean is preceded in death by her siblings Mae Westfall, Myrtle Hazel, Dolly Butcher, Betty Jo King and Lowell Conner.
Jean's legacy is carried on by her devoted children, Janis (Russ) Hittle and Michael (Diana) Fields; grandchildren Kristin (Brian Vijil) Fields and Jason Fields; great grandchildren Austin and Emerson Fields and Aubree Vijil, and a brother William Conner.
Jean's journey through life was marked by the love she gave and the love she received. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Family and friends may gather for visitation at Green Funeral Care, 4668 Pioneer Trail (at the corner of St. Rt. 44), Wednesday February 5, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM. Jean will be laid to rest at Hillside Cemetery in Mantua Village.
