Ralph C. Greene's Obituary
WINDHAMRalph C. Greene, 94 years of age, passed to The Celestial Lodge Above, on Tuesday November 25, 2014 at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna, Ohio. Born in Palm Harbor, Florida on December 31, 1919, he was the son of the late Charlie and Cassie Dona (McGuirt) Greene, the fourth born of seven children. A resident of Windham since 1950, Ralph had been a self employed carpenter for many years, and then was employed at Harbison-Walker Refraction for 23 years retiring in 1982. Ralph proudly served his country in World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corps where he was master of crash boats. Following his honorable discharge from service, he started working as Captain on a private yatch in Florida, moving to Ohio in 1950.An avid fisherman and master at wood carving, he was a member of The Windham United Church and Windham American Legion. Brother Greene was a member of Garrettsville Lodge No. 246 F.& A.M. where he also was a Past Master, was a 32 Degree Mason, a member of Silver Creek Chapter No. 144, and held membership in the Scottish Rite Bodies of Warren and Canton, Ohio. On July 2, 1947, he married Sarita "Rita" (Venard) Greene who survives at their home. Also surviving are his children Bruce (Karen) Greene of Garrettsville, Richard (Connie) Greene of Stockton, California and Susan (Greg) McDivitt of Windham Township, 8 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Carrie Greene in 1992 and 3 sisters and 3 brothers. A Memorial Service for Ralph will be held Saturday November 29, 2014 at the Windham United Church, 9051 North Main Street, Windham, Ohio 44288 at 11:00 a.m. Masonic Services will take place at the church at 10:30 a.m. Military honors will follow his memorial service. Family and friends are then invited to a reception at the church. Ralph will be laid to rest at a family interment at Windham Township Cemetery, In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to either the church or Garrettsville Masonic Lodge No. 246.
