Ralph W. Knippenberg's Obituary
HIRAM Ralph W. Knippenberg, 88 years of age, passed away Saturday September 16, 2017 at his residence. Born in Hiram, Ohio on September 22, 1928, he was the son of the late Henry and Clara (Kouch) Knippenberg. Ralph was a lifetime Hiram area resident, and a graduate of Hiram High School. A truck driver for over 55 years, he also farmed the family homestead, and found pleasure in constructing ponds on the property to almost a park like setting. Ralph and Ardell enjoyed going to auctions and flea markets together for many years, and they both will be remembered for their love of animals, Ralph especially for his dogs. Fond memories of Ralph will always include his sense of humor, the laughter he could provide to others, and his enjoyment of the ? Three Stooges?. On July 22, 1950, he married his beloved wife Ardell (Nash) Knippenberg who preceded him in death on November 25, 2000. Also preceding were his brothers Henry and Daniel Knippenberg and sisters Mariam Hoffman, Irma Klokow, Gertrude Fairbanks and Lucille Stutzman. He is survived by his devoted children Ralph C. (Mary) Knippenberg and Thomas (Chris) Knippenberg both of Hiram, and his grandson Josh Clelland of Willoughby. Also surviving are many loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Wednesday September 20, 2017 11:00 A.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service, 4668 Pioneer Trail at the corner of St. Rt. 44, Mantua, Ohio 44255, where visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. until service time. Final resting place will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Hiram. In lieu of flowers, donations would greatly be appreciated to the Portage County APL, as that was close to both his and Ardells heart.
