Raymond Bruce Andrews' Obituary
HIRAM RAPIDS-AUBURN TWP. Raymond Bruce Andrews, 96 years of age, passed away Thursday January 19, 2017 in Middlefield, Ohio. Born on May 22, 1920 in Auburn Township, Ohio, he was the son of the late Bert and Grace (Bartholomew) Andrews. Mr. Andrews was a longtime Troy Township resident where he farmed and was a machinist, having grown up in Auburn Township, where he was a member of the Auburn Community Church. He also had been employed during his life at Pesco, Jack & Heintz,Black & Decker, Ferry Machine and at Wellman Engineering where he was very proud to have been a part of making the systems for Air Craft Carriers Catapults during the war. In addition he had been a rural mail carrier in Mantua, and was employed as a Realtor for Century 21 in Garrettsville.Mr. Andrews enjoyed fishing, gardening, puttering around his home, and the times spent with his grandchildren including their special treasure hunts. On June 14, 1947, he married Phyllis (Odell) Andrews who survives at their home.Also surviving are his children Robert Bruce (Joan) Andrews of Middlefield, Susan E. Andrews of Hiram Rapids, Laurel (Russell) Calvert of Tallmadge and Linda (James) Petersen of Montville; grandchildren Jennifer, Jason, Ashley, Raymond, Jeremy, Jordan and great-grandchild Grace Elizabeth.His siblings Henry Andrews, Helen McElwee and Elizabeth Schlacht preceded him in death. No calling hours. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service for Mr. Andrews will be held Saturday February 11, 2017, 11:00 A.M. at The Auburn Community Church, 11048 Washington Street, Chagrin Falls, Ohio 44023. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Auburn Community Church or the Geauga County Department on Aging, 12555 Ravenwood Dr., Chardon, Ohio 44024.
