Richard Belknap's Obituary
WINDHAM-GARRETTSVILLE Richard G. (Pete) Belknap, Sr., 60 years of age, passed away Wednesday September 16, 2015 at his home. Pete was born in Ravenna, Ohio on June 1, 1955, the son of the late Thomas and Mona (Cottrill) Belknap. A lifetime resident of the Windham-Garrettsville areas, he had been employed for 25 years at Mantaline in Mantua. He had served in the United States Marine Corps. Pete loved antique tractors, and with his three sons restored a 1964 Cub Cadet Tractor which he drove in the Garrettsville Tractor Parade in 2014. For many years he enjoyed playing both the guitar and banjo strumming out Blue Grass and Country tunes. Pete is survived by his devoted sons Richard "Spud" (Vern) Belknap, Jr. and Randy Belknap both of Garrettsville, and David Belknap of Windham, his dear sisters Alice Gregory of Indiana and Stephanie Brazzon of Windham,and brothers Thomas Belknap of South Carolina and Willis Belknap of Champion. Also surviving is his ex-wife and friend Gail (Brandt) Belknap of Windham and his loving granddaughter Isabella. He was preceded in death by his sister Iris Schmidt, niece Sonja Brandt and great-niece Racheal Hundzsa. He will be missed! Calling hours will be Sunday from 2:00 P.M.-4:00 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service, 4668 Pioneer Trail at the corner of St. Rt. 44, Mantua, Ohio 44255, where his funeral service will be held Monday September 21, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. Final resting place will follow at Drakesburg Cemetery in Freedom Township where Windham American Legion will conduct Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name to Community EMS District would be appreciated.
