Richard "Dick" Williams' Obituary
WINDHAM-GARRETTSVILLE Richard C. ?Dick? Williams, 78 years of age, passed away Friday January 13, 2017 at UH-Portage Medical Center in Ravenna, Ohio. Born in Indiana, Pennsylvania on August 4, 1938, he was the son of the late Theodore and Mamie (Bodkin) Williams. Formerly of Meadville, Pennsylvania, he had resided in the Windham-Garrettsville area the past 45 years, where he was a member of the Windham United Methodist Church. Dick had been employed at Chrysler Twinsburg Stamping Plant as a general manager for 26 years, retiring in 1991. Following retirement, he also had been employed at Windham Hardware and then at G?Ville Auto Parts in Garrettsville for several years. Dick liked gardening, playing basketball at his home, and swinging in his tree, yet his passion for classic cars that included a ?37? Plymouth and a ?71? Dodge Dart Swinger game him many hours of enjoyment, as well as going to car shows and traveling to casinos with his wife Gail. Dick honorably served in the U.S. Army. On September 7, 1957, he married Gail (Beebe) Williams who survives at their residence. Also surviving are his children Ronald Williams of Akron, Darryl Williams of Garrettsville and Dixie (Walt Ellis) Williams of Ravenna; brother Teddy (Kathy) Williams of Maryland, step-sister Barbara (Joe) Wayner of Alabama; 4 grandchildren Ronald, Jr., Luetta, Trisha and Mikel and 8 great-grandchildren, and his 3 legged kitty child ?Baby?. He was preceded in death by his step-brother Ralph Copeland. Calling hours will be Friday January 20, 2017 from 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service, 4668 Pioneer Trail at the corner of St. Rt. 44, Mantua, Ohio 44255, where his funeral service will be held Saturday January 21, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. Officiating will be Pastor Kathy Thomas. Final resting place will follow at Windham Township Cemetery with military honors provided by U.S. Army Honor Guard Team.
