Robert L. Crowder's Obituary
SHALERSVILLE Robert L. Crowder, 88 years of age, became Our Gift to God on Sunday December 28, 2014 at his residence. Mr. Crowder was God's Gift to Us on September 21, 1926 in Litwar, West Virginia, the son of the late John and Ina (Glascoe) Crowder. Formerly of Streetsboro, he had been a resident of the Shalersville area since 1993. Mr. Crowder was a member of the Church of God in Streetsboro. An employee of Teledyne-Osco Steel in Cleveland, he was a warehouse supervisor, retiring in 1991 after 30 years of service. Mr. Crowder also was a former bus driver for Aurora City Schools. During World War II, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Bob never met a stranger, and enjoyed sharing a story with all to whom he came to know. A man whose family was very important, he faithfully attended the sporting events along with his wife Janice of their children and grandchildren. On March 18, 1944, he married Janice L. (Lester) Crowder whose passing took place on December 12, 2014 following 70 years of a loving marriage. Mr. Crowder is survived by his children Robert J. Crowder and Linda Kolanoski both of Ravenna, Chuck (Bonnie) Crowder of Mantua and Sharon (Steve) Gallagher of Sandusky, Ohio, his brother Sherman Crowder of Barberton, Ohio and 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be Tuesday (TODAY) from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua, where his funeral services will take place on Wednesday December 31, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Darrell Livengood officiating. Final resting place will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Shalersville Township, Ohio with military honors provided by U.S. Army Honor Guard Team, assisted by Mantua American Legion Post No. 193. Following the cemetery rites, friends and family are invited to a time of fellowship at the Shalersville Town Hall.
