Dr. Robert Kasubick's Obituary
AURORA - Dr. Robert V. Kasubick, 72 years of age of Aurora, became Our Gift to God on Thursday March 11, 2010 at his residence. Dr. Kasubick was God's Gift to Us on October 10, 1937 in Osceola Mills, Pennsylvania the son of the late Marcellie and Sophia (Beres) Kasubick. A 1955 graduate of Philipsburg-Osceola Area High School, he then earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry degree from Pennsylvania State University, following which he obtained a Master of Science from Connecticut College and a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Purdue University in 1966. A resident of Aurora the past 22 years, Dr. Kasubick was employed in pharmaceutical research and manufacturing for a number of companies during a 45 year career, which included employment at BenVenue Laboratories in Bedford for several years, following which he continued his profession at Oakwood Laboratories in Oakwood where he retired as Vice President of Operations. Following retirement, he continued to be active in his hobbies of photography, traveling, hunting, fishing, fly tying, and reading, especially science fiction. A member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mantua, he serves as Eucharistic Minister and Chairman of the Finance Committee. In 1962 he joined the Knights of Columbus at Council 4314 in Groton Connecticut, and accepted the position of Squires Counselor. His additional involvement with the Knights of Columbus included Charter Grand Knight for Council 5722, Grand Knight for Council 3766, Financial Secretary, Membership Director, Roundtable Director, District Deputy, Faithful Navigator. Purser, Comptroller, Diocesan Marshall, and Assistant State Membership Director. Sir Knight Kasubick also is a degree team captain for first and second degrees where he is the Chancellor and District Deputy, and also is the Historian on the Fourth Degree team. In 2001 he was voted the Portage County Knight of the Year, and in 2007 Council 3766 Knight of the Year. On April 11, 1959, he married Barbara (Dunkel) Kasubick who survives at their home. Also surviving are his children Robert (Tracie) Kasubick of Red Oak, Iowa, Mark (Bridgette) Kasubick of Cleveland Hts. and Dr. Susan (Richard) Wilman of Wooldridge, Missouri; his brother Thaddeus (Nancy) Kasubick of The Villages, Florida; his sister Frances Kasubick of Philipsburg, Pennsylvania and 6 grandchildren. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday March 17, 2010 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Rev.Fr. Michael Garvey officiating. It was Rob's request that donations be made to either St.Joseph's Church , 11045 St. Joseph's Blvd. Mantua, Ohio 44255 or to the Ireland Cancer Center in lieu of flowers.
