Robert L. Metzko, Sr's Obituary
MANTUA Robert L. Metzko,Sr., 84 years of age, passed away Monday January 5, 2015 at home. Born in Chagrin Falls, Ohio on November 7, 1930, he was the son of the late Joseph and Bess ( Behm) Metzko. Formerly of Kent, Ohio, he had been a resident of the Mantua area since 1997.Bob had been employed as a material manager at Milbar Corporation in Chagrin Falls, retiring in 1999 after 25 years of service. He also worked side-by-side with his son John at Teresa's Pizza in Mantua. Bob proudly served his country during the Korean War Conflict in the U.S. Air Force rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant.A member and former Commander of V.F.W. Post # 3703 in Kent, he also was a member of the Eagles in Chagrin Falls. He was an avid and passionate golfer in his leisure time. On August 20, 1955, he married Joyce A. (Leppo) Metzko who preceded him in death on March 25, 2004. Survivors include his children Robert ( Laurel) Metzko,Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia, John P. (Laurie) Metzko and Lee Metzko both of Mantua, Joe ( Gwen) Metzko of Chardon, Ohio and Adrienne ( Art) Zarzeczny of Jacksonville, Florida, as well as 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Visiting hours will be Friday from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua, where his funeral service will be held Saturday January 10, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. Chad Delaney. Mr. Metzko will be laid to rest on Monday January 12, 2015, 1:00 p.m. at the Ohio Western Reserve Nation Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Robinson Memorial Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project.
