Robert A. Mitchell, 86 years of age, passed away Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at UH-Portage Medical Center in Ravenna. Born in Cleveland, Ohio on January 16, 1935, he was the son of the late Robert and Ann (Rosipko) Mitchell. A resident of Hiram since 1974, he formerly lived in Twinsburg. Mr. Mitchell had been employed as an inspector at ACE Metal Stamping in Northfield from where he then retired. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. A longtime member of Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Vienna, Ohio, for many years he also has attended St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Parkman. An avid sports fan including baseball, basketball, and football, Mr. Mitchell also played baseball in Cleveland during his younger years. He was preceded in death by his wife DeAnne M. Mitchell in 2011, son James A. Mitchell, and two sisters, Patricia Ann Carthen and Ellen Norman. Survivors include his children, Robert A. (Marlene) Mitchell of Missouri, John A. (Michelle) Mitchell of Hiram, Heather Ann (Ben) Centifanti of Sheffield Lake, Ohio, Cheryl (Barry) Racz of Elyria, Ohio, and Tiffney (Timothy) Grajek of Kingsville, Ohio; 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild also survive. Calling hours will be Sunday, December 12, 2021 at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service, 4668 Pioneer Trail at the corner of St. Rt. 44, Mantua, Ohio 44255, from 2:00 P.M.-4:00 P.M., where his funeral service will take place on Monday, December 13, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. Officiating will be Rev. Edward Stafford. Final resting place will then follow at Fairview Cemetery, Hiram, Ohio, where military honors will be observed by the U.S. Army Honor Guard Team, assisted by members of Mantua American Legion Post No. 193.
