Mr Sawyer was a professor that made learning Latin fun, interesting and easy...yes, easy. One of the last of my college textbooks I retired after moving from a large home to an "empty nester" home, was my beloved Latin textbook. It was not so much that i loved the book, it was most certainly the respect and admiration of the wonderful man that taught us to love and appreciate Latin.
Mr Sawyer had a lasting impact on me as a person. He was a man who deeply cared about his students and passionately believed in making lifelong education a fun and critical part of all of our lives.
My sympathy to Mrs Sawyer as well. In Hiram, we were all neighbors.
