There are a lot of memories that come to mind, but one that really stands out, and one that I’ll never forget, is a time we were at a pool party with some friends. Kris and I were young, and I didn’t know how to go underwater yet, without holding my nose. It was embarrassing to me. She told everyone at the party that I was fighting an earache and couldn’t go into the water. She even took me into the bathroom, to act like she was dumping ear drops into my ear, and all we did was laugh about how silly it was. She had my back that day, much like I’ve been hearing how she’s had the backs of others.
Her love for animals was real. A couple of occasions stand out, again, when we were younger, she wouldn’t hesitate to put our car up on two wheels, to save a squirrel.
I’ll forever think of her whenever I hear Led Zepplin. WONE, I believe, would have an hour they’d play nothing but Led Zepplin, “Get the led out”. We’d be cruising around in a Green Ford Aerostar, jamming to it.

To this day, every time I hear D’yer Mak’er, I think of you, Mom. That’ll forever be your song.
Rest in peace, Mom.
