Ronald L. Lance's Obituary
MANTUA
Ronald L. Lance, 84 years of age, Mantua area resident since 1971, passed away Sunday, December 11, 2022 at his residence. Born in Martinsburg, Ohio on April 3, 1938, he was the son of the late Ivan and Bertha (Highman) Lance. Ron graduated from Utica High School in 1956, and had been employed by the Buckeye Pipeline, where he retired in 1996 after 26 years of service. He served with honor in the U.S. Army and Marine Corp. He was a longtime active member of Portage Faith United Methodist Church, and also held membership in Unity Lodge F.&A.M. in Ravenna. Ron was the owner-operator with his son Robin of Diversified Tree Farm in Freedom Township and Diversified Mini Storage in Mantua. Working on cars doing body work and going on road trips with his wife to see covered bridges were things that he enjoyed in his spare time. On September 15, 1960 he married Kathleen (Staunton) Lance who survives him. His children Robin (Terri) Lance of Freedom Twp., Julie (Joe) Solitro of Lakewood Ranch, Florida and Lisa (Doug) Kostyack of Stow, Ohio, as well as 6 grandchildren and 1 great- grandchild also survive. Preceding him in death was his sister Barbara Chatterton. No calling hours. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, January 8, 2023 at Portage Faith United Methodist Church, 9922 St. Rt. 44, Mantua, Ohio, 44255, beginning at 12:00 Noon. Officiating will be Pastor Jill Scott. Military honors presented by the U.S. Army Honor Guard Team, assisted by members of Mantua American Legion #193 will be observed at the beginning of his service. A luncheon and time to share will be held at the church following his service. Final resting place is at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.
